Quick guide

What can URL Encoder / Decoder help you do?

Free URL Encode / Decode tool. Handle spaces, special characters, and Unicode in URLs.

Best for

Prepare a single query value, such as a search phrase containing spaces or an ampersand, or inspect percent-encoded text from a request log. This tool encodes a URI component; it does not assemble or check a complete working link.

How to use it

Choose Encode or Decode and paste into Input. Output updates as you type or switch modes. Use Copy beside Output to take the result. For a query parameter, encode only its value before inserting it into the surrounding URL.

How to read the result

Encoding A&B produces A%26B, while a space becomes %20. Decode reverses valid percent escapes. An error message in Output means encoding or decoding failed, not that the message is converted text; check incomplete percent sequences before copying the result.

Privacy and limits

The widget uses browser encoding functions without submitting your text or loading a conversion library from a CDN. Query strings can contain access tokens or personal information, so remove those before sharing either the input or the copied output.

Encoding an entire URL also escapes its separators. Re-encoding existing escapes changes % into %25. Decode leaves a plus sign as + rather than treating it as a form-encoded space. Encoding is reversible formatting, not encryption or a link-safety check.
