Quick guide

What can XML Formatter help you do?

Free online XML formatter. Format, minify, validate. Supports RSS, SOAP, SVG, and complex nesting.

Best for

Inspect the nesting in a small XML payload, such as an RSS sample or SOAP response, or check whether the browser can parse it. Format provides readable indentation; Minify removes whitespace between tags for a more compact text representation.

How to use it

Paste into Input XML and select Format, Minify, or Validate. Format and Minify write to Output after a parsing check. Validate changes only the status. Use Sample for an example, Copy for the output text, or Clear to empty both panels.

How to read the result

Valid XML means the browser parser accepted the syntax; it does not confirm an RSS specification, SOAP contract, or XSD schema. Format uses two-space indentation. Check that Output belongs to your latest action, because validation alone does not refresh it.

Privacy and limits

XML parsing and formatting use the browser DOMParser and a bundled helper, without a CDN formatter or XML upload in the widget. XML may contain credentials, customer data, or internal addresses; remove those before copying a sample into a public report.

Formatting trims text tokens and can change meaningful whitespace in mixed content; Minify also removes whitespace between tags. Avoid rewriting signed XML or whitespace-sensitive documents. This is neither schema validation nor canonicalization. Changing the input clears the previous output; validate alone does not generate converted text.
